Solution

This article describes how you can install Wordpress with the "Install Wordpress" button of the webspace control panekl. After an installation with the "Install Wordpress" button of the webspace control panel, all comfort functions of the Wordpress toolkit are immediately available.

Alternatively, you can install Wordpress manually. After a manual installation, you can make your own Wordpress installation known to the webspace control panel so that you can use the convenience functions of the Wordpress toolkit. You can find out how to do this in a related FAQ article.

1. Log in to the webspace control panel.

2. Click on the “Wordpress” menu.

3. In the tab list on the right-hand side of the page you will see the "Installations" tab, among other things. If it is not already selected, click on it.

4. Now click on the "Install" button.

5. A fly-out will open. Pay attention to the suggested installation path in the “General” section. If there are already files in the document root directory of the website, the installation function suggests installing Wordpress in a subfolder, e.g. /wordpress. If you do not want to install Wordpress in a subfolder, but directly in the domain, so that the Wordpress website is shown when you visit the website on the Internet without specifying a subfolder, remove the suggestion /wordpress from the installation path.

Do not install Wordpress nested in another website, e.g. below another Wordpress installation or Joomla installation. Never nest different websites inside one another, but give each program its own area that is independent of other applications in your webspace.

6. If there are already files where you want to install Wordpress, the installation function will warn you: “Another application is already installed on the target. Overwrite application on target? ”(Or similar). If you are sure, confirm with the button "Yes" under the warning that the files should be overwritten.

7. You can give the website a website title right here. A randomly set title has already been entered. You can also change the website title later.

8. You can change all other settings, but do not have to. We especially recommend leaving the database settings as suggested.

9. Click on the "Install" button at the bottom of the fly-out.

The Wordpress Toolkit will now create a new database and will install Wordpress ready for you to use. It may then ask you whether you want to add plugins or themes straight away. You can do this during the installation or later in Wordpress or the Wordpress Toolkit.
